[4] I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they lived as sojourners. [5] Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the people of Israel whom the Egyptians hold as slaves, and I have remembered my covenant. [6] Say therefore to the people of Israel, ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment.
A covenant is an agreement made between two people a promise or contract. When GOD makes a contract HE will always keep it. So here in scripture when it says HE remembered HIS covenant it’s not something that HE had forgotten about nor is it something that HE did not intend to do. I’m betting that it never left HIS mind. When GOD spoke to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob about giving them the land of Canaan, it was not like HE had to figure out how HE was going to make that happen. HE already had a plan. Secondly, GOD is listening to the prayers of HIS people. HE heard the groaning because of slavery the heavy burden that the Egyptians had on Israel had finally gotten to the point where the people were crying out and of course when GOD’s people cry out HE is going to listen. Deliverance and redemption that was GOD’s plan HE is the LORD and Israel is HIS people the burden they were under had a purpose that purpose was to get them to cry out to HIM so that HE could deliver them it was also intended to strengthen them so that when HE did deliver them to the land that HE promised them they would be strong enough to keep it.
I want to ask you a question. Are you under a burden? Is it too much for you to carry? Has GOD spoken a promise to you and you have not seen it come to pass? Well I need to tell you something, and you may already be doing it so bear with me. Cry out and get on your face before the Father and remind HIM of what HE told you. HE does not want you to be a slave to sin. HIS plan has not changed. Right now HE is shaping you and molding you to hold on to what HE promised you. HE is not done… And maybe just maybe HE is waiting for you to cry out that your burden is too much. I remember when my daughter just learned how to walk. It was awesome. I would hold onto her hands and she would wrap her little fingers around mine and we would just go. There came a time when she started to let go of my fingers, but when she started to feel unsure I could feel her grip get a little tighter, and I would reassure her that I was there by putting my thumbs on her fingers. As her grip tightened. When we cry out to GOD that is exactly what HE does. HE reassures us that HE has not forgotten about us. Let me reassure you GOD has not forgotten about you. HE will not leave you in bondage to sin if you do not want to be there. Cry out HE is waiting to deliver you grab ahold of HIS fingers and let HIM steady your steps HE has made you strong enough to hold on to what HE has promised you. So get up and step out of your Egypt and into the promised land.
Father, you are so good to us, and the way that you prepare us for the promises that you spoke to us may not be the way we think you should. You used Egypt and slavery to make your people strong. Now look at them they will not give up the land that you gave them. Father, I stand with them in prayer I know that you will always protect them and this is all part of your plan. I pray that you continue to provide and protect them. Father, I also thank you for the way you have made me strong. I pray that I never return to Egypt. I want my life to bring you glory. Thank you for hearing me when I cried out to you, and I pray that you turn your ear to all of us who are crying out right now. We want to see you move. In our lives, in our church, in our town, in our world, and in Israel. We no longer want sin in our lives you have set us free, and whom you have set free is free indeed. Father for those who are crying out to you right now maybe they are still in Egypt, and they don’t see an end. Whisper in their ear to let them know that you have not forgotten the promise you made to them. This would include my situation with my wife. Father, only you can remove her from her Egypt. It’s in the mighty name of Jesus I pray amen
