It’s safe to follow

Scripture:

‭Leviticus‬ ‭25:18‭-‬22‬ ‭ESV‬

  • [18]  “Therefore you shall do my statutes and keep my rules and perform them, and then you will dwell in the land securely. [19] The land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill and dwell in it securely. [20] And if you say, ‘What shall we eat in the seventh year, if we may not sow or gather in our crop?’ [21] I will command my blessing on you in the sixth year so that it will produce a crop sufficient for three years. [22] When you sow in the eighth year, you will be eating some of the old crop; you shall eat the old until the ninth year when its crop arrives.

Observation:

The scripture is pretty clear in its statement. GOD he given us clear direction. The year of Jubilee was a year when the land had rest. The interesting part about this is there would be a 3-year period of time when there would be no real production of food. The scripture says the land will yield fruit and you will eat your fill of it. Another part that catches my attention is how security in the land is found as GOD’s chosen people did what HE told them to do HE would provide more than enough to get through this year of rest for the land they just needed to trust and follow, and they did as the LORD said HE would pour out a blessing in the 6th year that would produce enough to last through the 9th year. HE was teaching them not only how to rest but how to trust HIM with the results.

Application:

I want to live securely in the land that GOD has given me to use. Do I trust HIM enough to take my hands off of it and allow HIM to do what HE is going to? The way the world operates is exactly the opposite of all that we fear if we don’t do it ourselves no one will… So we go go go and do do do wearing ourselves to the bone and wondering why we don’t have have have any time time time. I wonder if it has to do with a lack of trust in GOD. The book I read daily (the Bible) gives me a few principles to follow. One of them is in the book of Malachi. That particular book tells me that if I bring my full tithe into the storehouse, I need not worry. Because my heavenly father will pour out a blessing so big my barns can not contain it. Now listen I either trust that GOD’s word is true or I don’t. I know the year of Jubilee is a little different than tithing. However, it has to deal with the same thing. Do you trust GOD enough to do what HE says? I honestly wonder how different our economy would be if we put into practice this principle. Let’s go back to the scripture for a minute because it always has the answers… The 6th year would produce a crop big enough to last through the 9th year is GOD not absolutely in control? Now listen. I have never taken an entire year off (except for when my addiction had control). However, I started tithing several years ago and now I have more work than I can do and I’m praying for GOD to send me carpenters who want to learn about Jesus. So I know HIS promises are true and I trust HIM with my finances. My point is if GOD’s word said it I can trust it. I truly believe that the world would be a different place if everyone put their trust in Yahweh.

Prayer:

Father, we love you. It’s not easy for us to take our hands off the plow and know that your way is going to produce a blessing that is more than enough for our needs. We want to trust you and your word gives us reason to. You brought your people out of Egypt gave them food and showed them the way peace was through trust in you. You fed them with your word and led them by your spirit, and when they trusted you you blessed them. Father, we trust you. We are asking for nothing more than to be spirit-led and Bible-fed. It’s in the mighty name of jesus I pray amen.
