Scripture:
Numbers 9:6-8 ESV
[6] And there were certain men who were unclean through touching a dead body, so that they could not keep the Passover on that day, and they came before Moses and Aaron on that day. [7] And those men said to him, “We are unclean through touching a dead body. Why are we kept from bringing the Lord’s offering at its appointed time among the people of Israel?” [8] And Moses said to them, “Wait, that I may hear what the Lord will command concerning you.”
Observation:
This Passover thing was pretty new, and some people took it seriously. They had seen what the LORD had done in Egypt and did not want the same thing to happen here in the wilderness. So they wanted to make sure that they got it right. Approaching Moses they presented their question. We are unclean we have touched a dead body can we still be a part of the Passover? Of course, Moses’ answer was let me ask the LORD HE has all the answers. The question was asked and the answer was given. Don’t let anything keep you from the Passover. Not even the fact that you are a Foreigner.
Application:
How many times have we allowed our sin to keep us away from approaching GOD? We fear that if we approach GOD knowing that we are unclean HE will through lightning bolts at us. However, let me ask you this question. What is the Passover? Ok, 2 questions what did Jesus do? My response Jesus died on the cross so that we could come boldly to the throne of grace HE gave HIS life as the Passover lamb so that you and I could speak to the Father regardless of what we had done. There is nothing that should keep us from Jesus. HE is the only carpenter I know that can build a bridge with 3 nails and 2 pieces of wood. My point is we don’t come to the Father perfect. We come broken, and HE makes us perfect, by the blood of the lamb and we overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony. It’s not about our life it’s about the life HE gave.
Prayer:
Father, let us never forget the price you paid so that we could talk to you regardless of our sins. Your grace is sufficient for your power is made perfect in our weaknesses. We don’t want to hide ourselves from you. When you made us you made us naked before you. Let us stay that way. You see all and know all anyway so there is really no reason to try to hide. I believe that nothing can separate us from your love which is Christ Jesus, and I know that you gave HIM to us so that we could stop hiding from you. We want our lives to be molded and shaped like HIM. It’s in the mighty name of Jesus I pray amen.
P.S. If you think you can’t come to GOD because you have sinned and you think HE won’t receive you because you are not perfect. Can I tell you that there is not one person reading this that is perfect. We come to GOD through Jesus Christ who is the son of GOD. HE came to earth to show you HIS great love. By dying on the cross, so that you could talk to GOD about your sin, and now HE has risen to life and is sitting right beside HIS Father. Speaking to HIM on your behalf. If you didn’t know that you do now, and if you want to start a relationship with him I would be glad to help you do so. Let me tell you this. For GOD so love you that HE gave HIS one and only son. So that if anyone believes in HIM he can have everlasting life. The Bible says today is the day of salvation. DON’T WAIT. The enemy would like you to believe that there is always time. But not one of us is promised tomorrow.
