Scripture:
Deuteronomy 14:2 ESV
[2] For you are a people holy to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.
Observation:
I think it’s important when reading the bible to remember who is being spoken to. I want to make it clear that Moses is speaking to the Hebrew people here. He is telling them that the LORD has called them to a higher purpose. They have been set apart. They are not like the rest of the world. They have been made holy. They have been set free, washed by the blood of the lamb, sanctified. They are GOD’s chosen people a prized possession. The Jewish people belong to GOD. HE has made that very clear throughout the bible.
Application:
But wait there’s more. How does this apply to us? Well, we have been adopted. What Jesus did on the cross, HE did for us. So that we could be part of the family. So let me ask you a question…how does it feel to know that you were chosen by GOD HIMSELF? To be a part of HIS family. That HE has set you free from the power of sin by the blood of Jesus Christ. Made you holy. By imparting the righteousness of Christ to you. You are HIS prized possession. Romans 8:13 tells us we have been adopted. Now let me tell you the cool thing about adoption. You get all the same rights and privileges as the sons and daughters of the LORD. You belong to HIM. The other cool thing about adoption is, …wait for it… HE CHOSE YOU. The adoptive parent chooses the child they want to adopt, and HE chooses you. Now let’s look at what we have been chosen for. 1 Peter 2:9 tells us we are a royal priesthood…but wait is Peter speaking to the Jews…maybe but you have been adopted. You belong to the family GOD has chosen you as well. All you have to do is say yes to Jesus who is standing at the four of your heart knocking, and if you have already done that… I want to tell you I am glad to have you as a part of the family but if you have not. Let me tell you. The Bible says today is the day of salvation. If you feel HIM knocking please answer the door. You are the only one who can open your heart no one else can do that. Just say yes to Jesus HE loves you enough to die for you.
So that HE could make you part of HIS family.
Prayer:
Father, I just want to thank you for choosing me. To think that the GOD who made heaven and earth chose me of all the people in the world you chose me. You are choosing others as well some men and women hear you knocking on the door to their hearts as they read this. I pray they will open that door and let you in. I know that you have changed my life you have made me a new man, and by the blood of Christ, I am a part of your family. Thank you so much. I pray that anyone hearing the knock would feel free to contact me privately so I could help them to know you more. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray amen.
