Scripture:
Judges 7:13-15 ESV
[13] When Gideon came, behold, a man was telling a dream to his comrade. And he said, “Behold, I dreamed a dream, and behold, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian and came to the tent and struck it so that it fell and turned it upside down, so that the tent lay flat.” [14] And his comrade answered, “This is no other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel; God has given into his hand Midian and all the camp.” [15] As soon as Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, he worshiped. And he returned to the camp of Israel and said, “Arise, for the Lord has given the host of Midian into your hand.”
Observation:
GOD knew Gideon HE created him. HE KNEW that Gideon was going to need a little confirmation. This was a big step. He had pulled down the altar and cut down the pole of the gods that his family was worshipping and sacrificed the cow that he did it with. But this…this was real war and the odds didn’t look good. 300 men against camels that can’t be numbered. Gideon needed his confidence built, and GOD had a plan for that. Sneak down into the came I have something you need to hear. As Gideon got close he heard the men talking about a dream that GOD had given them to instill fear into their hearts. Now how they concluded that a loaf of bread represents Gideon I don’t know, but GOD planted the idea and it worked. They were dreadfully scared of Gideon. Building Gideon’s confidence and smashing the confidence of the enemy. GOD used their panic to HIS advantage, and again the victory was already won.
Application:
Sometimes we just need to hear something like…you got this…or you can do it…or I got your back… We never really see our true potential. Most of the time it’s because we are too busy looking at past defeats and thinking that’s who we are. I want to encourage you today your past is not who you are it’s only the road to who GOD made you to be. If you are standing at the edge of insurmountable odds. Thinking you can’t let me remind you who GOD says you are. Rise up you mighty men and women of valor. You were not only made to get in the fight but you were given victory before the fight ever started. If the LORD is for you then not one can stand against you. Do you trust what GOD says about you? Only HE knows who HE made you to be, and when we fight from victory the fight looks so much different. GOD has already put fear in the heart of the enemy. That’s why he is in a panic and attacking himself. He knows the outcome of the story but just refuses to believe it. The book of Revelation is only scary to those who don’t know the salvation of Jesus Christ. We win in the end victory belongs to GOD. I don’t care what anyone else tells you that’s the truth. It’s all in the book. Read it live it and love the victory you have been given from a Father who loves you so much that HE sent HIS only son to pay the price for you. A debt HE did not owe for a price you could not pay. VICTORY IN JESUS.
Prayer:
Father, I just want to thank you this morning. You know the encouragement we need, and you wrote it in the book that you gave us as a road map to life. You are such a good Father always right on time. Always giving us exactly what we need for the day ahead. You know us better the we know ourselves and I am always amazed by how you show us what we need to move us to the next step. You are victorious you stand absolutely victorious. Even when it does not look that way we know that you will not be defeated, so we should not live defeated lives. The victory you won…you won for us. From a true and undying love, I love that reaches far beyond our understanding. Again all I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart thank you. It’s in the mighty name of Jesus I pray amen.
