[22] Thus, King Solomon excelled all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom. [23] And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put into his mind. [24] Every one of them brought his present, articles of silver and of gold, garments, myrrh, spices, horses, and mules, so much year by year.
Solomon had gotten exactly what he had asked for. GOD made him the wisest man on earth. So wise, in fact, that a queen traveled for days to hear what he had to say, and was surprised at the fact that what she had heard only scratched the surface when it came to the depth of Solomon’s wisdom. Not to mention, kings and nations all around him saw how he operated and wanted to be a part. People would send him gifts. Gold and other valuable items hoping to buy favor from him. Solomon’s wisdom was sought after. People wanted to be around him. He was successful because he not only knew a lot but he knew when to use the information he had. His wisdom came from the most high. Therefore, it had no end. Solomon himself more than likely didn’t know the depth of his wisdom.
Wouldn’t it be something to not know how smart you really are? I think about Solomon a lot. I have a strong desire for wisdom. I pray for it every morning. To truly understand the depth of GOD’S wisdom would be somewhat scary, to be honest. Wisdom is attractive to those around it. I mean, look at the growth of our church. The pastor of our church prays for wisdom, and I would almost guarantee it. Now that being said, I believe it is important to understand the difference between wisdom and knowledge. I believe you can have knowledge and not have wisdom, but the reverse is not possible. Knowledge is knowing how to do something. There are lots of people who know how to do stuff. But knowing whether or not they should do it is different. Just a quick example I know how to build homes. But if I start building houses when the market is not favorable to that. I’m just going to lose everything I put in. Knowing how is very important, but knowing when is vital. People want to be around others who are wise. I know I do. It’s how we are able to navigate through life with the least amount of turmoil. We draw off of the wisdom of others. It’s how GOD made us. Ok, so my point to all this… we keep what we have by giving it away. The Bible tells us that iron sharpens iron. So my suggestion is to get next to someone who is wise and learn from them and find someone who what’s to learn from you and show them how you got to where you are. The Bible calls this discipleship. Teaching others how to fallow Jesus Christ. Honestly, if I have any wisdom at all, it came from HIM. All wisdom comes from above. Coming down from the father of light. Last but certainly not least. If you are seeking wisdom, ask the father. HE wants you to make the right decisions in life. HE will give you wisdom if you ask. In fact, I could on it. My final point. Other people want to be around those who make the right decisions. It’s so much safer than being around someone who is making a bunch of bad ones.
Father, you see our hearts. We want to know you. We want to be around you. We want to see you moving in our lives. This whole thing is about you. Your plan your purpose. Your way. Help us to make the right choices. We seek your wisdom, Father. It’s why we get in your word every morning. It’s why we dig in. It’s why we get next to others who seem to know more. Father, this whole thing belongs to you. Our purpose is to do what you want, and that is for us to worship you and only you. You are GOD, and we are your people. Let that be what attracts others to us. In the might name of Jesus, I pray amen.
