Scripture:
Romans 12:4-8 ESV
[4] For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, [5] so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. [6] Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; [7] if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; [8] the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
Observation:
Paul is explaining that we are all part of one purpose. Although we are all different in many ways. We have been placed in a local body of believers for a reason. Paul wants us to know that although GOD has given us very different gifts, they all work together to accomplish the same goal.
Application:
So, for the first time in my life, I am on vacation. It’s one that has a purpose. I thought about not writing the SOAPS. But I couldn’t do it. You guys kept coming to my heart. It’s how GOD made me. HE gave me a gift, and I need to use it to edify the church. The one body of Christ. So, although I know it’s late, I had to operate inside the gifts that HE has given me. It’s how all this moves forward. I do my part, and you do yours working together to advance the kingdom. Your gift may be different than mine, but when we work together in unity, your gift will shine just as much, if not more than mine at times. So let your light shine so that the world can see that WE are the body of Christ. Working together for a common goal. I love you all of you guys. So I’m not sure there is a vacation from that. It’s our responsibility to fan into flames the gifts and callings that GOD has given us. Let’s do what HE has called us to do.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for making us all different. But giving us the same purpose. We trust that you will reveal our gift to us. So that we can operate in them. Thank you for the unity that you have created in us. We are one body with one cause. We come together for a common purpose, to advance the kingdom. Help us to work together to accomplish your will. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray amen.
