Can you see where you’re going?

Scripture:

Psalms 119:105-112 NKJV‬

[105] Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. [106] I have sworn and confirmed that I will keep your righteous judgments. [107] I am afflicted very much; Revive me, O Lord, according to Your word. [108] Accept, I pray, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O Lord, And teach me Your judgments. [109] My life is continually in my hands, yet I do not forget Your law. [110] The wicked have laid a snare for me, Yet I have not strayed from Your precepts. [111] Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever, For they are the rejoicing of my heart. [112] I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes Forever, to the very end.

Observation:

I believe Psalms 119 is the longest chapter in the bible. One thing I know for sure is that the book of Psalms is the longest book in the bible. Honestly, that in itself makes a point. The book is a book of prayers and songs from King David and a few others… David has written most of them.  I started at verse 105 because it’s part of my regular prayer. I want to be directed by GOD’S word it’s how you get to the narrow gate. “The light unto my path,” If we think about that a little bit, that means the LORD is not going to show us too much at once… just the next step or two. In verse 106, King David reminds the LORD that he himself has sworn to keep judging rightly and according to GOD’S  righteous commands. Looking inside himself in verse 107, he sees that he is out of step with GOD and in need of a reveal in his heart. In verse 108 clarity is brought by the king saying… he is still praying, but that’s about the only action he is taking. However, his desire is for that to change. He knows his actions as of late have been without consideration to the LORD and explains that evil men have laid a snare. But he has done his absolute best not to stray from the precepts of the LORD. Living the testimony that he has been chosen by GOD and taking it upon himself to rejoice in GOD’S law and live them forever.

Application:

It’s easy to get off track and not be able to see where you are going. Pointing fingers and not paying attention to where you are wrong. It’s very dangerous and prideful. Seeing where the problem is, I believe it is fine, but knowing your part is vital, you honestly can’t do anything about anyone else and their behavior… that has to be turned over to GOD. The only person you have any control over is you. The way you react. Crying out to the LORD to show you where you are wrong is the key. Seeking HIS word for correction and setting your heart right with HIM is what the LORD is looking for. GOD is a very personal GOD. HE is concerned with your relationship with HIM. Offering that up to HIM and exposing your wrongs to HIM is the only way to be set back on the right path. I don’t know about any of you, but I have been known to not be watching where I’m walking and find a snare set by someone who has evil intent. I have to say it’s not their fault. My feet found the snare. It’s mine for not watching where I was walking and letting GOD’S  word light my path. It’s easy to rush into something and not investigate or wait on GOD for an answer. Taking your life into your own hands is how King David describes that. The Bible says to abide in Christ, and HE will abide you. The question is, how many times have you run into a situation without consulting HIM or even asking someone for wise counsel and end up finding your feet in a snare? If you’re like me, it’s way more than once. JUST SAYING. But let me tell you where the revival starts. Asking the LORD to revive someone else is not going to help. You have to direct your attention to your own heart. Remember, the only person you can do anything about is you. However, here is how it works. When people. Start seeing the changes made in you it becomes contagious. I don’t know about you, but I want GOD’S  word to light my path. Even if it’s only 1 or 2 steps at a time. I don’t want to move too fast anyway. So here is what I am going to ask you to do… start asking the LORD to renew the right spirit in you. Not anyone else, just you. Then, search HIS word to allow HIM to guide your very next step and do what HE says there. I want to see a revival. I want my heart in right standing with the Father. I want yours there too. Let’s kick off a chain reaction that will set the captives free.

Prayer:

Father, you know my heart. You know where I have been wrong, and you know how to correct it. I am sorry, Father, for getting off your path and taking my life into my own hands. I place it now at the foot of the cross and pray that your word will light my path. Allow me to know and live your word in a manner that brings you glory. I know I have made mistakes, and it’s only my brings that I can correct. Revive me set my heart right. Restore to me the joy of your salvation. Help me not to look for the flaws in others but focus on correcting myself. You are my LORD and my GOD, you alone, I worship, and you alone, I praise. Keep my eyes fixed on you and use me in the way that only you can. It’s in the mighty name of Jesus I pray amen.
