Scripture:
Genesis 49:28 ESV
[28] All these are the twelve tribes of Israel. This is what their father said to them as he blessed them, blessing each with the blessing suitable to him.
Observation:
I know that there is not a lot of scripture here, but I believe it’s very significant in what it says, so I wanted to look at it. I will say the best way to really see the truth of this verse is to take the time to read the blessings that Israel speaks over his twelve sons because they were very suitable for how that son reacted to the curse of their lives. The one that Israel speaks over Joseph makes that really clear. Ok, so now to the observation, Jacob’s name was changed to Israel the day he fought with GOD for a blessing. That day, he became a nation. It wasn’t until the 1940s that the rest of the world recognized that, but let’s not get lost in the weeds. So these 12 sons of his are all tribes of Israel, and I’m sure they still are today. There, Father Jacob knew them well and was not about to give them more than they could handle, so as he spoke, their blessings I’m sure he was mowing over in his mind how they lived, and spoke an appropriate blessing over each one.
Application:
GOD is not going to bless you with more than you have prepared for. I remember having a conversation with a sister of mine named Jeanie. I absolutely love this woman. She is one of the main reasons our live recovery group is here today. We were talking about getting vans to get people back and forth to meetings and church, and I said something about getting two vans. Then I said something about going to get people from a treatment center that is about 50 miles from the church…..I kinda laughed when she said we can’t do that it will be too much gas… and she asked me why I laughed….. I quickly responded with Jeanie that if GOD is going to give us two vans, don’t you think HE will fill them with gas? My point is that GOD wants to bless you. But HE will not give you more than you will be able to rightly handle. So put yourself in a place where your heavenly father knows HE can trust you with the blessings HE wants to give you.
Prayer:
Father, we know that you love us and your plans are good. We want your favor on our lives, and we know that you want to bless us. I pray that we are ready to receive what you want for us, and if not, prepare the soil of our hearts to receive from you. I know that you are moving me and my company to the next level and I believe I’m preparing for that. I want no man left behind, so as you move me, prepare them as well. I know the vision you gave me, and that vision won’t happen if it is not prepared for so help me to position myself and the company you gave me to be what you have called us to be
