[6] Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches. [7] Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. [8] For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. [9] And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up. [10] So then, as we have an opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
There is a common thread through the book of Galatians that Paul seems to hold tight to. It’s the Holy Spirit. He seems to be teaching this church how it operates, and how to bring it to a point where it has free rain in all that they do. His first instructions in verse 6 tell us that when we are learning GOD’S word, we need to share the revaluation that we are given not only with others but with the one who teaches us as well. The very next verse is also very important, and diving into it, we can see that GOD is not looking at the surface. HE is looking at the heart. Paul is telling the Galatians that all of this has to do with their heart position. If your heart is right, HE can see that. He wants the Galatians to know that their motivation for what they are doing is important. If their flesh is their focus, corruption is on the horizon, and if their desire is to feed their Spirit, then they will be sowing into the kingdom. He follows this up by saying it’s pretty easy to get frustrated when you are not seeing results. Don’t stop. GOD is working behind the scenes, and at just the right time, HE will bring a harvest. If an opportunity to do good present it’s self it should be taken advantage of, especially if they are of the family of faith.
If you guys don’t mind, I want to be as real as possible here. Anyone who has been reading this for any amount of time has heard a lot of my story. It’s been quite a journey. There have been ups and downs. Successes and failures. My heart has been hurt, and I have rejoiced in victory. I have seen the light come on in men and see what seems to be the demise of other men. The point is don’t give up. Sometimes, the fruit from a seed you plant is not for you to harvest. It’s for someone else who needs to be encouraged who may be growing weary. We just need to press on and do good no matter what. GOD is working even when we can’t see HIM HE is doing something, and at just the right time, a harvest will come. I need to clarify before I make my next statement… I have not arrived. I know that. I say that because I know that there are men who poured into me over the years that more than likely got frustrated thinking, is he ever going to get it? Just like there are men that I wonder about. We just can’t stop. The harvest is coming. Just press on, and if one seems to step away… the seed was planted. Maybe someone else is supposed to water it. The harvest is all GOD’S. My encouragement for you today is… Let’s not grow weary. Those who rest in the LORD will renew their strength. Move forward chase after one more. The kingdom is built one at a time. Just do good to everyone. Love covers a multitude of sins. Let’s build the kingdom here on earth. After all, that’s what we pray for…” Your kingdom comes on earth as it is in heaven.” Don’t give up, run your race to win… run it to finish strong. You may have stumbled in the middle, but it’s not over yet. Finish strong.
Father, we love you, and we want to do your will. We know that what we put in is what we get out. Help us to sow good into others. Allow us not to get selfish. None of this is about our success rate it’s about you and your success rate, and we know that you just don’t fail. When your word goes forth, it will produce the fruit it was intended to produce. We want to be used by you. Help us just to move forward casting seeds into the lives of those around us. When we are tired, give us rest under your wings. When we are frustrated, give us encouragement when we are down lift up our spirit. Lead us to the next, right step, and then the next and the next. The harvest is coming. Let us not lose sight of that. It’s in the mighty name of Jesus we pray, amen.
