Scripture:
John 1:1-5 NKJV
[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made. [4] In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. [5] And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
Observation:
The Bible is a very profound book. It’s so deep and complex but simple and informative and the same time. The first several years of reading it. I spent a lot of time scratching my head and thinking, I just don’t get it, but over the last 7 or 8 years GOD has revealed so much to me in HIS word that I just didn’t see before. Now every morning it comes to life. Just like it did the very day HE spoke the first words that were recorded. “Let there be light.” At the very beginning of HIS Holy word, birth was given to the very SON of GOD. Now it might be hard for our human minds to understand and I hope I can explain it in a manner that not only catches your attention but gets you interested in what GOD has to say specifically to you. So let’s dive. John was an apostle of Jesus Christ, a fisherman who was one of the first disciples called by the son of GOD at the edge of the sea. He was also the only one to be seen at the foot of the cross as Jesus gave HIS life for the sins of the world. A ride or die kind of guy. One of the inner circle of all the apostles. His gospel is a little different than the other 3. Matthew, Mark, and Luke all focused mainly on the life of Christ… what HE did while HE was here walking the earth as a man, but John focused more on the fact that Jesus is the very SON of GOD. You can see it in all the key points in his gospel. Especially right here in the very beginning. When he explains exactly where Jesus came from and what HE is. HE is the very word of GOD in the flesh. At the beginning of time, the LORD spoke and Jesus went forth and started creating everything you see. HE is the express creative power of GOD in the flesh. HE… just like GOD, is, was, always has been, and always will be. So I want us to think here. Let’s get our minds wrapped around this. Jesus is the word of GOD everything that was created was created by words straight from the mouth of GOD. The Bible is the word of GOD In print. That brings me to an interesting question that I will have to answer in the application process of this SOAP. So now that we have determined that Jesus is GOD’S word and when GOD spoke so many years ago Jesus went forth and started creating. Let’s let that manifest a little bit more… the universe that began on that day so many years ago is still to this day expanding. Jesus is still creating. The word spoken has not stopped. It’s still doing, still building, expanding as we speak. So what was it that GOD said? “Let there be light, and there was light.” I could go really deep with this but I just want us to understand what’s being said in these five verses. Light is how we see it’s what exposes what is in the dark. It keeps us from tripping on stuff. In my opinion, this is a group of scriptures that you can go on forever with and never fully dig all the way to the bottom of. So let’s just look at what we know so far Jesus is the very word of GOD, HE is the light of the world, and absolutely nothing that has been created was created without HIM. HE is the expressed image of GOD’S living word.
Application:
I know we have looked at something this morning that is pretty deep, and it brings me to a question. Where would you be if the bible was not written? Now I know that most of us probably didn’t know much about the bible when we came to salvation. However, at some point, someone who had an encounter with Jesus found the truth in GOD’S word and explained it to us and we had an encounter with Jesus found GOD’S word and have a deep desire to explain it to others. GOD’S creative power is still moving today. Jesus is still the living word of GOD creation has not stopped from the very beginning trees, animals, plants, and humans are still being made by the very first words spoken, and here is how it continues… GOD’S spoken word led to HIS written word which led to an encounter with Jesus which led to salvation which leads to GOD’S living word moving and creating still. My question is this. Would you know Jesus right now if it were not for GOD’S written word? Jesus not only lives on through you but HIS very nature is found in GOD’S written word. We get to see who HE is, we get to see the very face of GOD. Through HIS sun. You are reading this right now because someone found and fell in love with the very word of GOD. Jesus Christ. The living written word. So here is where I want to take this. You have been armed with one weapon. Ephesians chapter 6 verse 17 talks about it. The sword of the Spirit which is the word of GOD. You have been armed with Jesus. You have everything you need to win every battle you face right in the palm of your hand. Just remember this someone had an encounter with Jesus because someone had an encounter with GOD’S word which led them to Jesus which led them to you which led you to an encounter with Jesus which led you to GOD’S word which is going to lead you to someone today that needs Jesus, and you have been armed with all the information (GOD’S WORD) to lead them to Jesus and that being said HIS creative power is still producing salvation today. Now I know this is kind of deep. So just let it sink in GOD’S word is alive in you. Changing you shaping you molding you to be conformed to the image of HIS SON the very word of GOD.
Prayer:
Father, I hope I did not cause any confusion. Because I know that you are not the author of confusion and I know you are the one who writes these SOAPS because honestly, I’m just not smart enough. So I pray that you take what you have written and plant it in the hearts of those who have taken the time to read it so that it will grow and continue to create salvation in the hearts of all men. Arm us with your word that is your son. The very breath of you. Help us to understand and navigate your word, and live in a manner worthy of the calling you have given us. We know that salvation comes from no one else but you. So all we are asking is that you use us. Lead us. Write your son upon our hearts. Give us the right things to say at the right moment to lead someone directly to you. Let us reflect your word which is your son. Holy Spirit we ask you to do what only you can do. Make sense of this in the hearts of those who take the time to read it it’s in the mighty name of Jesus I pray amen.
