Scripture:
Exodus 40:36-38 ESV
[36] Throughout all their journeys, whenever the cloud was taken up from over the Tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out. [37] But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out till the day that it was taken up. [38] For the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys.
Observation:
The scripture says that when GOD’s glory would fill the Tabernacle HIS people would stay put. It sounds like this was not just on special occasions but throughout their whole journey. The glory of the LORD would show up and cover the tent of meeting. Not even Moses could go in the tent. It’s how GOD was leading HIS people. A cloud of glory by day and a pillar of fire by night.
Application:
This may be a little bit short this morning but I’m alright with that. Sometimes fewer words say more than rambling out something that makes no sense. So let’s look at what’s going on here. Yahweh wants to lead us. Let me ask you a question if GOD’s glory came and settled right in front of the door of your house would you want to go anywhere? Better yet would there be any reason to GOD anywhere? Listen I don’t know about you but I am seeking time in GOD’s presence. I want to be right next to HIM. I want to follow. HE is my G.P.S. GOD’s protection services when HE tells me to stay put it is for my good, and when HE tells me to move it is for my good. HE knows way more than I do because HE stands outside of time. I want HIM to lead me. I do not follow my heart. It will lead me astray. The scripture says to be still and know that HE is GOD. HE sees what you don’t. If HIS glory is not with you. Get in HIS word and let HIM lead you, and if HIS glory is right there well then there is no reason to go anywhere because you have all you need. Stay put and enjoy the rest. Again the scripture says those who wait on the LORD will renew their strength, maybe HE has you waiting as a time of renewal. It says they will rise up like on the wings of an eagle. GOD is doing something. Just let HIM lead. You do not have to force it, just listen and let HIS glory speak to you stay put when he says to stay put, and move when HE says to move.
Prayer:
Father, your G.P.S. is the best it will never lead us astray. We want to be led by you. Because we know that we won’t end up in a ditch if we follow you. You see what we can’t and you know what we do let us just take in your glory, and search for it when it’s not easy to see this life is not about us. We are honestly too small a thing to live for. We want our lives to reflect that we follow you when you say wait we want to be found waiting and when you say move let us move. We just want to be in the presence of your glory. That’s it. Just spending time with you. It’s in the mighty name of Jesus I pray amen
