[26] Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.” [27] So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the Lord threw the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. [28] The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained. [29] But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
The LORD gave Moses instructions to do what he could stand at the edge and stretch out you staff. It was something that he could do. The people he was leading were in a panic all they saw was captivity their past had caught up with them. However, GOD was not done. He knew all along that the deliverance of the LORD was permanent. So Moses doing what he was told to do stretched out his hand one more time throwing the Egyptian army into panic. Their wheels started to get stuck and when every last Israelite was off the sea floor GOD brought the water back together over their enemy. Their capacity was gone and in fact, they saw them wash up on the shore lifeless.
When the LORD delivers you it’s for real. You don’t have to worry about your past because HE will shut the door on it. HE will give you instructions that you will be able to accomplish. For example, my path started with a stay at a discipleship program. That’s where t started walking across the bottom of the sea. I have to say it has not been an easy journey. Sometimes my shoes got full of mud and the steps were heavy. But once I got to the other side my father closed the door. I have been separated from Egypt. I’m sure most of us can tell at least one story of how GOD has closed the door on our past. I think it’s important to keep those life-changing moments in mind. Knowing that our father never does anything halfway. In the very next chapter of the Bible GOD’s chosen people are singing to HIM praising HIM for what HE had done. That brings me to another point. Praising GOD for the victory HE has given us is the key to remaining in that victory. The story of the exodus is still told today. GOD has brought you out of captivity tell someone about it someone who looks to be still in bondage. There is no reason anyone should have to live in bondage when we serve a GOD who makes a highway through the sea and closes the waves on our past.
Father, the way you do things is not a halfway-done kind of way your word tells us you will not start something you won’t finish. When you deliver someone out of bondage it’s for real. I want to thank you for delivering me from drug addiction and so many other sins that bound me to the wrong side of the sea. I pray that I never forget to praise you for the victory you have given me. It’s in the mighty name of Jesus I pray amen.
