Are you without sin?

Scripture:

‭Job‬ ‭9:2‭-‬4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

[2] “Truly I know that it is so: But how can a man be in the right before God? [3] If one wished to contend with him, one could not answer him once a thousand times. [4] He is wise in heart and mighty in strength —who has hardened himself against him, and succeeded?

Observation:

The beginning of Job’s defense in verse 2 makes a valuable statement. GOD’S standards are so much higher than ours. Who can honestly say they have not sinned? verse 3 lays out exactly who the competitor is, and HIS ability if we decide to harden our heart against GOD. HE has all the answers…..we don’t. verse 4 talked about how much wiser GOD is than man. If we choose to contend with HIM, it’s not wise. Not only is HE mighty in strength, but he has all the answers. HE knows us better than we do.

Application:

Without Jesus Christ, we have no hope. There is no one who can stand before and say he lives a sin-free life. Grace is required, and we only receive that through faith in Jesus Christ. The religious leaders of the time brought a woman to Jesus who had been caught sleeping around on her husband. They explained what they saw, but as they were explaining, Jesus did something that was a little different. HE stooped down and was writing in the sand. No one really knows what was written, just that HE was drawing or writing. Man, how amazing it would have been to be a fly on the hair of a horse that day. To see what was placed in the sand by the son of GOD. I believe whatever it was brought conviction to the men who were standing around waiting to beat this woman with rocks. 1 John 1:8 explains that no one is without sin, and if they say they are, they have just sinned by lying. I’m not writing this to condemn everyone. It’s just what I see Job saying in this scripture. He knows that GOD made him and that what GOD says is truth no matter how we look at it we may think our answers are right but HIS answers are always right. That being said, we need to always keep that in mind. GOD has the final say no matter what. HE is in control, and HE made you, HE has a right to do with what HE wants. Romans 9:21 comes to mind. HE is the Potter we are the clay HE has made us for a purpose. I believe we should always do our best to walk worthy of the calling that HE has placed on us, knowing that through Jesus Christ is the only way to true righteousness. I could really talk about this topic all day because it’s truly unending.

Prayer:

Father, you know us better than we do. You know when self-righteousness is trying to show its ugly head in our lives. We see here in your Word how Job was very careful not to say that he knew better than YOU or that he was in the right over YOU. We know that we are a lump of clay in your hands. You have made us for your purpose. We just want to walk worthy of what you have called us please guide us in doing so it’s in the mighty name of Jesus I pray amen.
