[10] By the breath of God, ice is given, and the broad waters are frozen fast. [11] He loads the thick cloud with moisture; the clouds scatter his lightning. [12] They turn around and around by his guidance, to accomplish all that he commands them on the face of the habitable world. [13] Whether for correction or for his land or for love, he causes it to happen. [14] “Hear this, O Job; stop and consider the wondrous works of God. [15] Do you know how God lays his command upon them and causes the lightning of his cloud to shine? [16] Do you know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge,
GOD is the one who is in control. It’s HIS hand that creates. It’s HIS breath that is the wind. HE decides when it will rain and when it will not. HE guides the clouds and uses them to accomplish HIS purpose. vr:13 really caught my ear this morning….. GOD does things to correct. HE does them for provision, and HE does them out of love. When we look at vr:14, we see that we can not always understand the ways of GOD, vr:15-16 carry on that thought. I see these verses as a reminder of who is in control. I believe they could be addressing a pride issue.
The thing, even if we think we do. We do not understand GOD. HIS ways are not our ways, and HIS thoughts are not our thoughts. One thing I do know is that pride I’d very dangerous it can make us…… in our mind be better than we really are. I believe it is the root of sin. I believe it’s what the enemy uses to convince Cane to kill his brother. Pride is mentioned over and over in the bible, and it seems to always be followed by a fall. I am not zeroing in on this for any particular reason. Just that I have dealt with it in my life, so it can be easy to see in others as well, and I’m not saying I have it completely dealt with because it still shows itself on occasion. Pride is what makes us say stuff like I deserve this, I’m better than you or you don’t even know who I am, or even GOD is blessing me because my walk is better than yours. As we have seen in the story, good things happen to bad people, and bad things happen to good people, so we have to be careful to pronounce judgment. Because GOD could be building and blessing to flush out a pride issue. We don’t know. HE makes it rain on the just and the unjust. We just have to stay right-sized and not forget who is in control.
Father, I know that you want us to remain humble, and I pray that we can always do so. It’s not always easy for us to see pride because we can be blinded by it in our own lives. So, Father, we pray that you would help us to see where we are wrong. We want our lives to bring you glory and honor. Help us not to get puffed up thinking that we are something we are not. The only reason we are anything is because of you. I am only a willing vessel father. It’s in the mighty name of Jesus I pray amen
