Blessings in obedience

Scripture:

‭Leviticus‬ ‭26:3‭-‬13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

[3]  “If you walk in my statutes and observe my commandments and do them, [4] then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. [5] Your threshing shall last to the time of the grape harvest, and the grape harvest shall last to the time for sowing. And you shall eat your bread to the full and dwell in your land securely. [6] I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid. And I will remove harmful beasts from the land, and the sword shall not go through your land. [7] You shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. [8] Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase ten thousand, and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword. [9] I will turn to you and make you fruitful and multiply you and will confirm my covenant with you. [10] You shall eat old store long kept, and you shall clear out the old to make way for the new. [11] I will make my dwelling among you, and my soul shall not abhor you. [12] And I will walk among you and will be your God, and you shall be my people. [13] I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves. And I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect.

Observation:

There are 10 verses here that explain what it looks like to walk in obedience.

There is a lot of blessing here and I would like to explain it all. I think I will break it down like this vrs:4-5 tells us GOD will make sure we don’t go hungry. HE will make sure our crops produce plenty of food. So much in fact that we will have to clear out the old to make room for the new. vrs:6-8 along with the last half of vr:5 tells us that we will live securely in the land we will have nothing to fear in fact we will be feared by those who do not believe in GOD. A small number of believers will shut down a large number of unbelievers. vr:9 tells us we will be fruitful in childbearing. vr:10 says we will clear out the old grain to make room for new that’s where I got the from. vr:11-12 tells us GOD will live with us walk with us dwell with us. vr:13 is the remainder of the fact that GOD brought HIS people out of bondage from the Egyptians. Set them free, and gave them the promised land so that as they walked with HIM they would never have to be slaves again. Braking the yoke of slavery.

Application:

Man, this is awesome. GOD wants us to walk with HIM. HE wants to be with us in the cool of the day. To take care of our every need. To put our enemy to flight. To provide for us is GOD the same today as HE was yesterday. Will HE be the same tomorrow and on going I can see all these promises happening as I walk with GOD in my life. My father provides for me. HE takes care of me. I always have more than enough. I don’t really fear. Because if GOD is for me who then can stand against me? I want to jump all the way back to the first verse from this morning’s reading. If you walk in my commandments and do them. I am not going to sit here and say I am a perfect person I make mistakes and when I do I own up to them. I believe that is what it means to walk with GOD. I do my absolute best to stay obedient to what HIS word says. I have experienced blessings that I can not explain. This does not mean I do not stumble AT ALL I fall short in many ways I am made righteous through Christ Jesus… You can ignore all that if you want what I’m trying to say is when I walk with GOD as closely as I know how HE protects me HE leads me HE provides for me and when I walk another way all that provision and protection and leading seem to pull slowly away I find myself homeless with nothing but the clothes on my back. It’s not because GOD left me it’s because I walked away from HIM. As soon as I head back in HIS direction HE is there to receive me and pour out HIS blessings. My point to all this is I WANT TO WALK WITH GOD not away from HIM. For as many verses as there were in this chapter about blessing, there were 3 times as many about what it looks like when we don’t walk with HIM.

Prayer:

Father, we want to walk with you. We know that you have made a way for us to do so, and that way is Jesus Christ. We want to spend time in the cool of the day with you to walk with you. Not so you can bless us but because you have already blessed us we are not self-righteous we have been made the righteousness of Christ let us see that and let the weight of that set in. We want you. We want to seek your face even when we fall short. You have delivered us from Egypt let us walk as though we have been delivered from our sin and not be slaves to it obeying its desire and not the desire you have for us. We cry out Abba father. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray amen.
