[23] And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting, and when they came out they blessed the people, and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people. [24] And fire came out from before the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the pieces of fat on the altar, and when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.
I only hope I can do this justice in the observation of what has just happened. Moses GOD’s right-hand man was the only one who was able to go into the tent of meeting. Until GOD told him to consecrate Aaron and his sons. So for the past 2 chapters, we have taken in how Moses brought Aaron and his sons to the tent and made a sacrifice, placing the blood of that sacrifice on their ears right thumbs, and big toe on their right foot. (just a quick note the right side was the side of blessing) this was done to set them aside for the work of the ministry. I want to remind us that prior to this ceremony Moses was the only one who could go in the tent. But now we see Aaron and Moses going into the tent. This had to be a big moment in Aaron’s life. Not only was he able to go into the tent but the LORD GOD accepted his sacrifice giving him approval.
Now here is where it may get a little bit difficult. It’s time to draw a picture from the Old Testament to the New Testament. So here we go, Jesus is the only way to GOD. Much like Moses was in the Old Testament Jesse is in the New Testament. Now that being said let’s take a look at what Jesus did for us. HE sacrificed HIMSELF so that we could go directly to GOD. Placing HIS blood on our right ear right hand and right toe so to speak. Now we are set aside for the work of the ministry. Before you say but I’m not a minister I don’t stand on a stage or behind a pulpit and preach. Let me challenge you to this. If you know Jesus Christ as your LORD and SAVIOUR you are called to minister. GOD has given you influence in the people around you your pastor’s job is to equip you to do the work of ministry. He is to give you the tools to inform others who Jesus Christ is and what HE did. Ok now that being said I know I am not your pastor, however, I want to give you a tool so that you can tell others the gospel. The only thing you need to know to present the gospel is John 3:16 it’s that easy that verse is the gospel. For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS one and only son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. If you know that verse, and you believe that verse to be true you are a minister. Matthew 28 says go and make disciples. So now not only have you been equipped, but you have been commissioned, and all by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Father, it’s so amazing how you work. You gave us your word as a guide to how we are supposed to live. Let us take the pictures you have painted and use them to show others your plan. Give us a boldness to speak your truth and allow us to understand it so that what we speak into the lives of others is only your truth and not some watered-down version of it. We know now that you have set us aside for the work of the ministry. Just like Aaron had the blood on his ear so that he could hear from you, you have placed the blood of Christ over us so we can hear from you. Just like you placed the blood on Aaron’s hand so he could do for you you have done the same for us you have set us aside for your work let us get busy making disciples in the mighty name of Jesus I pray amen.
