Scripture:
Numbers 27:18-20 ESV
[18] So the Lord said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him. [19] Make him stand before Eleazar the priest and all the congregation, and you shall commission him in their sight. [20] You shall invest him with some of your authority, that all the congregation of the people of Israel may obey.
Observation:
It was time for Moses to not only pass the torch to someone else but to be gathered to his people as well. However, who should take his place? There was still a lot of work to be done. GOD’s chosen people were still not in the promised land yet. Sure they had taken some victories but the work was not done. The LORD spoke to Moses and said take Joshua, but why who is he, and what makes him better than any other man? Well, let me answer that he was full of the holy spirit. He was bold enough to believe what the LORD said. If GOD said the land is ours let’s take it. We are able. It was time and GOD gave instructions on how it was to be done. Stand in front of the priest place your hand on Joshua in front of the congregation and invest in him some of your authority. There was a reason it was not done behind closed doors. The congratulation needed to see it so that they would listen to Joshua.
Application:
So how does this apply to us? Here is how I see it. My desire in life is not to be rich according to the world’s standards. I do however want to be completely filled with the Holy Spirit. I want no room for anything else. GOD is looking for Spirit-filled men and women for the work of the ministry. People who will do what HE asks of them. I pray that how HE sees me. When HE says be still I want to not move and when HE says move I want to go quickly, and when HE says I can I want to stand on that. It’s at HIS word that the Spirit is heard. GOD did not give us a spirit of fear but of peace love and a sound mind. My whole heart’s desire is to be Spirit-led and Bible-fed. HIS word is my feast. What it says I believe. There is not one lie in it, and no one can question it without the Holy Spirit showing them the truth. My GOD is able to do far more than I could ever ask or imagine and I don’t ever want to limit HIM.
Prayer:
Father, I want to pray big this morning. Because I know you are able. I pray for forgiveness over those who are held in condemnation. I pray that the Holy Spirit moves through them as they feel your loving arms around them this morning. I want to pray that you set captives free. Those bound by addiction and sexual sin. I pray that you would back down the walls around their heart and pour your love into them. I pray that the church would love on those that you send them with truth and grace. I pray that your spirit would speak through me and anyone else willing to be used by you. I pray that you would sweep through our churches our towns and our country with a revival spirit that would wake us all up to who you are and how much you really love us let your spirit be poured out. Let the truth be spoken from our pulpits all over the world. Bind anything that is not of you. Push the evil and hate into the pit of hell where it belongs place a hedge of protection around your people. In the mighty name of Jesus expose the deception of the enemy and break his chains to set his captives free let us storm the gates of hell kick them down and gather our brothers and sisters. They don’t belong there you did not make hell for them. That’s a place you created for the enemy and we cast him to it right now. We claim freedom in Christ. Freedom to follow you Father freedom to be loved by you. Freedom from sin and shame and fear and addiction freedom from perversion and anything else that has bound your people. Your word says that if my people who are called by my name would humble themselves turn from the wicked way and seek my face you would move and heal and set free. Father I know I have been called and many others reading this have been called. We are seeking your face and ask you to move in the mighty name of Jesus I pray amen.
