Scripture:
Psalm 8:4-9 ESV
[4] what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? [5] Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. [6] You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, [7] all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, [8] the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. [9] O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Observation:
From what I have found in the scriptures. David was responsible for writing a good portion of the Psalms. The word psalms means… Songs or poems used for the worship of GOD. So let’s break that down. This means that David is responsible for writing down his worship. So that we could see it years later. He wanted to pass it on for generations to come. So what did he want us to know from this particular poem or song? Let’s take a look. Who is a man that you are mindful of him? You have made him just a little lower than the heavens. You have made him rule over the earth and all that is on it. Wow. That’s all I can say.
Application:
I just want to take a little time to encourage you this morning. I want you to know that GOD is thinking about you right now. HE sees you as you read this. HE knows your struggle, and HE has not left you nor will HE ever forget about you. HE wants you to know that HE is mindful of you every tear you have ever cried, every heartache you have ever felt, every issue you have ever faced…you are on HIS mind. HE has been with you when your heart hurts so does HIS. When you rejoice HE does too. HE saves your tears in a bottle everyone accounted for. HE is mindful of YOU.
Prayer:
Father, wow…sometimes that’s all I can say is wow. Even when I mess up you think about me. Who am I…who are we? That you would pay that much attention to us…with so much to deal with you still think about us. From keeping the world spinning at the perfect speed so you don’t through us off to making sure the sun stays at just the right distance away. You still have time to think about us. I am always truly amazed at you, and honestly, all I can say this morning is thank you. Thank you for thinking about me and my issues when you have so many other things that require your attention. You still have time for me. Again…wow that is what it means to love. That is what a relationship with you is. So with that knowledge, we pray that we would be just as mindful of you. We pray that we would think of you before we just do we pray that every choice we make would pass through your word before we act on it, and that prayer is offered in the mighty name of Jesus amen.
